Memo to City Council/Park and Recreation Commission
April 22,2002
Page 3
1. A through-City trail
2. Snowmobiling within the Urban Service District
3. Rural snowmobiling limits
4. Trailheads
5. Publicity and public education
All-Terrain Vehicles
The Sherburne County Board of Commissioners recently adopted requirements for the use
of all-terrain vehicles and all-terrain vehicle tracks (attached). Currently, the City of Elk
River has no regulations for all-terrain vehicles;however, the use of all-terrain vehicles is
increasing within the City limits. As with snowmobiles, staff and the Commission would like
to establish general parameters, which can become the foundation of an ordinance regulating
all-terrain vehicle use within the City limits.
YMCA Update
The Commission would like Mayor Stephanie Klinzing to provide an update on the progress
with the YMCA.
•
S:\PLANNING\MICHMC\PLREPRTS\JointMeeting.doc
