Privet

MEMORANDUM

Item ~ 8.6.

TO:

FROM:

DATE:

SUBJECT:

Mayor and Council

Pat Klaers, City Administ~~_~
November 13,200 I

Consider Pay Plan Resolution

Attached for your review and consideration is the 2002 pay plan resolution for
non-organized employees. The pay plan calls for all pay ranges to increase by three percent
in January 2002. This is the increase each employee will receive in their wages. This
resolution is very similar to past pay plan resolutions with only a few changes, including the
following:

· Item 4 is new to the pay plan but has been an existing policy since the building
permit technician's position was established.

Items 9 and 12 relate to the part time firefighters. The wages in Item 9 are going up
three percent, except for the probationary firefighters, and Item 12 reflects existing
policy. It is appropriate that theses two items be incorporated into the pay resolution.

Regarding Item 16 Insurance Benefits; the city's monthly contribution to the Flexible
Benefits Plan has increased $10.00 per month. If this amount is to change (due to
Council action on the previous agenda item) then an adjustment in Item 16 needs to
be made. While concerns exist for how much our employees have to pay for family
insurance coverage, it should also be noted that the city's contribution to family
insurance coverage is among the highest in the metropolitan area.

Recommendation

It is recommended that thc City Council adopt Resolution 01-__ a resolution adopting the
2002 pay plan for non-organized employees.
