Ikiver

Recreation
Department

TO:
FROM:
DATE:
SUBJECT:

MEMORANDUM

Mayor and Council

Michele Bergh, Recreation Manager

November 13, 200 I

Part Time Receptionist Position

Item ~ 3.3.

I am requesting approval to advertise for a part time receptionist, working 20 hours per
week. This is a position that has been worked by a variety of part time and seasonal staff
throughout 2001. We would like to hire one person to cover the hours to improve
consistency of the work performed and better office coverage on a regular basis. The start
date for this position would be January 1, 2002.

The city has budgeted $10,000 in 2002 for part time wages in the recreation (administration
program) budget. This $10,000 amount was also in the 2000 and 2001 budgets. Funding for
this office help is not new but hiring one regular part time employee to fulfill the
responsibilities on a year-round basis is a new approach for the department, and one that
should improve efficiencies and communications.

Pat Kda~
