A <br />household refers to all persons who occupy a <br />housing unit. A household could involve a family <br />living in a house or it could involve unrelated <br />people sharing an apartment. A family refers to a <br />parent or grandparent living with at least one child. <br />In Elk River, most families are comprised of married <br />couples with children. Yet, in the future, it is likely <br />that the percentage of married couples without <br />children living with them will increase. The <br />percentage of single parent households will also <br />increase. <br />The average household size in Elk River in 2010 <br />was 2.79 persons, which was down from 2.85 in <br />2000. <br />Building permit data provides insights on the form and pace of development.
