Elk <br />River <br />Elk River comprehensive Plan <br />banners for every department in the City. The Streets <br />Division is located at 19000 Proctor Road. <br />Parks System <br />The City of Elk River has an extensive park system <br />that provides quality recreation opportunities for <br />residents and visitors. Refer to Chapter 10: Parks, <br />Recreation, Trails, and Open Spaces for more <br />information. <br />Activity Center (55+ years) <br />The City operates an activity center located at 413 <br />Proctor Avenue. People 55 years and older may enjoy <br />fitness classes, creative art classes, cards and games <br />or relaxing in the Gathering Grounds coffee shop. <br />The Activity Center also has three computers with <br />internet access which are available at no charge. The <br />Senior Scene monthly newsletter provides up -to -date <br />information on tours, special events, programs and <br />activities available at the Activity Center. <br />Golf Course <br />The Pinewood Golf Course in Elk River is a nine -hole <br />executive course that supports the golfing community <br />with a variety of programs and opportunities that <br />suit the occasional player as well as the avid golfer. <br />Pinewood Golf Course is located at 18150 Waco <br />Street and is open early April through November of <br />each year, weather permitting. <br />Ice Arena <br />The Elk River Ice Arena located at 1000 School <br />Street NW provides opportunities for the community <br />including learn to skate programs, open skating and <br />hockey activities, leagues, clinics and tournaments, <br />youth and school hockey teams including Elk River <br />High School, and provides a venue for a bi- annual <br />craft show and a walking track. <br />Elk River Municipal Utilities (ERMU) <br />Municipal Utilities <br />Elk River Municipal Utilities is a community -based <br />provider of power, water, and security systems located <br />at 13069 Orono Parkway. Elk River Municipal Utilities <br />(ERMU) provides electric and water services to Elk <br />River and surrounding areas, including parts of the <br />Cities of Dayton, Big Lake, and Otsego. ERMU bills <br />the residents monthly for services provided by the <br />City of Elk River, which includes sewer and residential <br />trash removal. ERMU also sells, installs, and services <br />security systems while providing monitoring. <br />ERMU has a variety of energy and water conservation <br />programs including the promotion of renewable energy <br />sources such as wind power and power from the <br />local landfill gas. ERMU offers many programs to its <br />customers that saves them money and conserves <br />energy, including rebate programs and promoting good <br />daily practices to make conservation a priority. It is <br />active in the Energy City partnership with the City of <br />Elk River. <br />County Facilities <br />Elk River is the county seat for Sherburne County. <br />The county government center campus is located <br />at 13880 Business Center Drive NW along Highway <br />10 in the western portion of the City. This facility <br />includes administrative offices, courts and detention <br />facilities, as well as administration, GIS and Survey <br />staff. These facilities provide a significant source of <br />local employment. The County services also provide <br />a source of activity bringing people to Elk River to <br />conduct business. <br />The Sherburne County DMV is located outside of the <br />County campus at 600 Railroad Drive. <br />Chapter 1 1 : Community Facilities / 115 <br />
