"f E 1E MEMORANDUM RiVer TO: Heritage Preservation Commission FROM: Zack Carlton, Planner 1 DATE: March 18, 2014 SUBJECT: Meeting Reminder— March 20, 2014 This is to remind you of our upcoming meeting on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. at the Elk River City Hall in the Uppertown Conference Room. Please see the attached agenda and minutes. AGENDA ITEMS 8.1 SCSU Walking Tour Updates Commission Member Fox will provide an update 8.2 Discuss Water Tower Subcommittee The City Council approved the formation of a subcommittee with the goal of restoring/preserving the Jackson Street Water Tower. Preliminarily,the first meeting of the subcommittee has been set for April 8`''at 5:30pm in City Hall. No more than two members of the HPC may volunteer to serve on the subcommittee. The discussion may include identification of these members. The CLG grant for the historic structures report was submitted on March 7th.We will hear back in late March or Early April if the grant has been selected to move forward in the selection process. If we are,the selection committee will review the applications during a public hearing on April 17, 2014. It is expected that we prepare a three minute presentation for the review. 8.3 Review research about forming a 501 (C) (3) organization Commission Member Fox will present his research about forming a non-profit organization. 8.4 The AASLH Annual Meeting This year the annual statewide historic preservation conference will be held in conjunction with the American Association for State and Local History's annual meeting. The HPC is required to have one commissioner and staff member attend the conference each year.
