Heritage Preservation Commission Meeting <br />Elk River City Hall <br />Meeting Date <br />Scott Anderson, of Bethink Stories, introduced himself and said he was in attendance <br />to provided information on his company's QR code products. <br />5.2 Water Tower funding <br />Commissioner Fox updated the commission that he began looking at how to setup a <br />501c3 for the fundraising but soon realized it was a bigger task than he could handle. <br />He indicated that fundraising is a project that needs to be performed by someone <br />that knows what they are doing and he wanted the commission to look at the <br />possibility of utilizing an outside source for the project. Commissioner Mortensen <br />said she would work with Mr. Fox on the project. Council Liaison Wilson encourage <br />the HPC to keep moving on the project so is does not lose interest. <br />Commissioner Mortensen wanted to get more realistic bids on the cost to refinish <br />the water tower. She also asked the commission for permission to create a fund <br />raising letter. <br />Commissioner Mortensen had questions on what the current fund balance was and if <br />Elk River Municipal Utilities (ERMU) had funds for the project. She thought the <br />city had $700 -800 and that ERMU had $30,000 for demo. Staff indicated they would <br />get an answer on the current funds available. <br />The commission wanted to know how they could set up a "Save the Water Tower" <br />committee. <br />6.
