This would simplify the process and be consistent with the policy for Lions Park Center.
This deposit would apply to field use as well.
The existing policy reads$50 for use of a park. The recreation department feels this is a fair
amount to charge anyone having an organized event or bringing a large group as these uses
may have an affect on the general public's use of the park and requires coordination by city
staff. We also feel that,as with the other facility fees, there should be different fees for those
who are residents and those who are not. The Woodland Trails policy states that
reservations, fees and deposits are required for organized events as well as groups of 15 or
more. We have had many questions regarding this policy and feel it needs to be clarified.
City staff spends time coordinating the use with various departments as needs (i.e. Streets
and Parks,Recreation, and Police),signing the park, and sometimes sectioning off a part of
the park from public use. These uses, in many cases, require extra cleaning of the park,
additional garbage pick up and/or additional servicing of the portable toilets. We
recommend following the policy listed for Woodland Trails for all uses at all parks,
regardless of the type. Additionally, we recommend the $50 fee apply to resident
groups/events and a fee of$100 apply to all non-resident groups/events.
