Sorry that I could not make the meeting. We
have been waiting for a park. Parking should not be needed since this a neighborhood park. Most residents will
be walking and the street is wide enough to accept a number of cars. If a parking lot is needed can be added
on the west side after it is deeded.
Also the people that back up to the park are always going to be against a park because they have enjoyed the
privacy.
If they are worried about people in their yards then they should put up a fence. They knew that a park was
going in there when they bought the house. These are the same residents who thought they needed a cul-da-
sac. This was proven by tests not needed and stop signs to eliminate their concerns.
Residents have to take some responsibility for themselves and their kids. Our street is going to go through and
we knew this so we took measures and added a fence to protect them. We also added a play area so our kids
would have an area. We need a park for our kids though and also need paved trails for bikes, walking,
rolloerblades, etc.
In the future the park can expand across the street when the developer deeds the land to the city. The
neighborhood is in need of a park. The"big red slide" park is not easily accessible since there is a lack of
sidewalks or trails here in Elk River. We can make ourselves available for brainstorming.
Regards,
Dan and Colene Verdick
19663 Zane CT NW
Elk River, MN 55330
3/13/2003
