Zerwas, ChiefofPoliCe~f~ <br />November 12, 1998 <br /> <br />AUTHORIZATION TO PURCHASE POLICE VEHICLES <br /> <br />As per council action on the 1999 budget requests, I have received quotes for the purchase of two <br />(2) full size 1999 police vehicles. I have also received quotes for the purchase ora used 1998 <br />Ford Taurus with 16,000 (sixteen thousand) miles on it and a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina with 10,000 <br />(ten thousand) miles on it. <br /> <br />Elk River Ford submitted a quote for a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria at a price of $20,878.00 <br />(twenty thousand, eight hundred and seventy-eight dollars). Saxon Motors was unable to provide <br />a quote as General Motors does not make full size police vehicles any longer. <br /> <br />I received the bid information from Hennepin County Purchasing, which we are a mem?~r of, and <br />their price was $20,665.00 (twenty thousand, six hundred and sixty-five dollars). This is <br />approximately $220 (two hundred, twenty dollars) less than the Elk River Ford .quotes. As in <br />me past, I recommend that we purchase the 1999 police vehicles from Elk Ri~er Ford at <br />the above quoted price. <br /> <br />As for the 1998 Ford Tams, we received a quote of $13,900.00 (thirteen thousand, nine <br />hundred dollars) from Elk River Ford. We also received a quote from Saxon Motors for <br />the purchase of a used 1998 Chevrolet Lumina for $14,295.00 (fourteen thousand, two <br />hundred and ninety-five dollars).
