Elk River Water Superintendent <br /> Municipal Utilities Position Description <br /> Department: Immediate Supervisor: <br /> Water General Manager <br /> Pay Group: Management FLSA Status: Last Updated: <br /> Pay Grade: 7 Exempt 10/25/2013 <br /> Positions Supervised: <br /> Lead Water Operator, Water Operator <br /> Position Summary <br /> Responsible for the overall supervision and direction of the Water Department including <br /> operation, production, distribution, maintenance, and record keeping. <br /> Essential Functions <br /> 1. Responsible for the overall operation, production, and maintenance of the water <br /> distribution system. <br /> A. Oversee day-to-day operation of the water production and distribution system to <br /> ensure safety and reliability. <br /> B. Oversee maintenance of infrastructure such as utility buildings, water towers, <br /> wells, booster stations, valves, hydrants, and water mains. <br /> C. Oversee the coordination of work with developers, contractors, and customers. <br /> D. Assist with the planning of projects and development of bidding documentation. <br /> E. Monitor SCADA to ensure wells and water towers are operating efficiently. <br /> 2. Oversee inventory for the department. <br /> A. Oversee the department's inventory integrity. <br /> B. Oversee purchasing for the department and provide information to ensure proper <br /> materials and equipment are stocked. <br /> 3. Performs other responsibilities of the Water Department. <br /> A. Supervise department staff. <br /> B. Identify, prioritize projects. Provide work direction for department staff. <br /> C. Ensure a productive and safe working environment. <br /> D. Develop and communicate short and long-term department goals. <br /> E. Assist in the development of the annual budget for the department. <br /> F. Prepare information for management analysis and make presentations to the <br /> Commission on department related topics. <br /> G. Maintain and archive department records as required. <br /> H. Prepare and submit reports as required for department related regulations. <br /> I. Research and recommend the implementation of new industry practices, <br /> equipment, and materials. <br /> 4.
