City of Elk Memorandum River To: Parks and Recreation Commission From: Annette Bonin Date: January 6, 2014 Subject: Activity Center Report 2013 Activity Center Recap: • Yearly attendance of 24,840 participants. This is an 8% increase from 2012. • 453 Optional Memberships were purchased in 2013. • 2013 Revenue from memberships, program fees, and donations was $28,931.38 • A total of 29 trips were planned, with 590.participants attending trips. • Activity Center monthly programming included 46 regularly scheduled activities and 52 fitness classes each month. • A total of 38 special programs and presentations were held throughout 2013. Notable programs included Antique Value Fair, K-9 Demo, Lost Loot Author Talk, Bob Ross Method Oil Painting and Ukrainian Egg Painting. • Special events held in 2013 included a walk to Bailey Point on Women's National Health and Fitness Day, free Veteran's lunch for 50 participants, International Picnic Day, Cinco De Mayo party and Taylor Marie Fashion Show. • 3 Fundraisers for CAER food shelf were held at the Activity Center in 2013. A total of$1600 and 450 lbs of food were donated to CAER. • Annual Members Only Holiday Party in December had registration of 165. • Two outdoor pickleball courts were created in 2013 at Lions Park. • In August the Activity Center became the 2nd Flex Fitness Site in the state of MN • In August the first newly designed full color Senior Scene newsletter was published.
