Parka&Recreation Commission Minutes Page 2 <br /> October 9,2013 <br /> 6.1 Bailey Point Nature Preserve Memorial Donation <br /> Mr. Leeseberg presented his staff report. <br /> Lynn Caswell with the Elk River Rotary shared that this project has significant <br /> meaning for both the family and Rotary and want the benches and platform to be in <br /> a durable location to enjoy the confluence of the two rivets. <br /> 6.2 Moulton Farm Property Update <br /> Mr. Leeseberg presented his staff report. <br /> Commissioner Niziolek questioned the property line near the dam. <br /> Mr. Leeseberg stated that the property lines would be clarified with Sherbume <br /> County. <br /> 6.3 Deer Population Issue in Parks <br /> Commissioner Anderson discussed issue of having a high deer population in <br /> Woodland Trails Park and that any new trees planted have to have deer enclosures to <br /> protect them and what measures can be taken to control the deer population. <br /> Commissioner Sagan shared two ideas,fast, planting grass that deer do not like and <br /> second to look into allowing bow hunting. <br /> Commissioner Niziolek shared that there should be a Citywide approach to establish <br /> a program to manage the deer population. <br /> 7.1 Parks Improvement Fund <br /> Mr. Benoit presented his staff report. <br /> Commissioner Anderson stated he appreciated the opportunity for the Parks and <br /> Recreation Commission to be involved. <br /> Moved by Commissioner Sagan and seconded by Commissioner Holmgren to <br /> recommend to City Council to accept staff recommendations Park <br /> Improvement Fund projects for 2014, including the Oak Knoll football field <br /> lights.
