During the development of this document,there has been some internal discussion <br /> regarding the mission of the Commission. The Council is asked to confirm this mission,which will then <br /> be used to evaluate and further develop the action plan. <br /> The mission as published in Section 2-353 of the city code is as follows: <br /> The energy city commission is established to promote the City of Elk River as a hub of energy technology, energy <br /> manufacturing, energy demonstrations, recycling, use ofgreen products and education. <br /> This mission has been incorporated into their marketing materials: <br /> The mission of the Energy City Commission is to provide a central location in the upper Midwest to demonstrate <br /> emerging and leading edge renewable energy and energy conservation technologies and to transfer that information to the <br /> general public. Goals under the Energy City Commission emphasi.Ze the importance of Elk River Energy City as an <br /> economic development tool. The Commission sees the potential to create high paying energy-related scientific research <br /> jobs at the companies that are attracted to the area because of Elk Rivers status as Energy City. <br /> The Energy City Commission is committed to educating the public about emerging technologies in energy conservation <br /> and sustainability.
