Sec. 30-853. Compliance with applicable regulations: <br /> All signsSignns hereafter erected or maintained shall conform with the provisions of this subdivision <br /> and other ordinances and regulations of the city. <br /> (Code 1982, § 900.22(3)) <br /> Sec. 30-854. Nonconforming slgns.Signs <br /> (a) Eligibility for legal nonconforming status. Existing signsSigns which do not conform to the <br /> specifiecurrent provisions of this subdivision ffiayshall be eligible for the designati <br /> "legal nonconforming" Signs provided that: <br /> (1) The city adffiiitiiis—�ator, or —designee, determines that such signs are prope <br /> the Sign was authorized by a valid permit;variance,or complied with all <br /> applicable laws pr4o r to june 18. 1990.at the time the date of adoption of th <br /> ordinance from which this � a: _: : is der4_e .Sign was installed. <br /> -(b) Loss of legal nonconforming status. A legal nonconforming signSignn may lose this <br /> designation if the Sign is removed, <br /> abandoned, or its use discontinues for a period of 12 months or more than 50 <br /> (c) Maintenance and repair. A legal nonconforming signSign is subject to all requirements <br /> of this subdivision regarding safety,maintenance, and repair. <br /> (d) Relocation or alteration. The city council may,upon application of a property owner, <br /> permit the alteration or relocation of a legal nonconforming signSign if, after a public <br /> hearing by the planning commission and city council, the council determines that <br /> total compliance with the current signSgn regulations is not reasonable but the <br /> alteration or relocation of the nonconforming slgrasSigns is in greater conformity <br /> with the existing sigraSign regulations and is in the best interest of the community. <br /> (e) No expansion.
