Proctor Road and CSAH 1 Intersection
Traffic speed, volume and history of accidents at this intersection have led to the consideration of options
for improvement. Staff has been working with Sherburne County on an option to install a left turn arrow
for southbound CSAH 1 to eastbound Proctor movements. Modifications to the existing traffic control
system would include the installation of three new loop detectors in the pavement and hanging new
arrow plates on two of the existing mast arms. Control modifications would be made to allow the system
to be operated and function similar to the system at located at CSAH 1 and School Street. Costs for
these improvements would be split with Sherburne County. It is estimated that the city portion of the
costs would be less than $30,000.
Financial Impact
Improvements described above are included in the CIP and anticipated to be funded through the Street
Improvement Reserve Fund. If directed to move forward with select options, staff will design and secure
a contractor to complete the work. Any proposed improvements, with costs exceeding levels approvable
by staff according to the existing purchasing policy, will come back to the Council for consideration.
Attachments
■ None
N:\Public Bodies\Agenda Packets\11-18-2013\Final\x9.1 sr£docx
