Rolfe, Chief of Police <br /> Item Description Reviewed by <br /> Hire Police Officer Cal Portner, City Administrator <br /> Reviewed by <br /> Action Requested <br /> Approve by motion,the hiring of Jonathan Christie as a patrol officer for the Police Department. <br /> Background/Discussion <br /> As the Council is aware, Officer Brynell Stewart submitted her resignation and has completed her last day <br /> of employment as of November 1, 2013. The Police Department has identified an internal replacement <br /> candidate for this position. <br /> Jonathan Christie, a current member of the ERPD reserve unit and veteran of the United States Marine <br /> Corps was interviewed by the Police Department command staff and found to be an excellent candidate <br /> for the vacant police officer position. Mr. Christie has successfully completed his law enforcement <br /> training and is eligible to be licensed as a peace officer in the State of Minnesota. He has passed his pre- <br /> employment screening tests and his anticipated first day of employment will be November 18, 2013. <br /> Mr. Christie is a long-time resident of the Elk River area.
