be made by May 1, 2003. During the 2002 —2003 season about 7% of youth hockey's ice
rentals where "non primetime" hours, I would request that at least the same percentage be
rented during the 2003 —2004 season.
The Arena will rent 575 of ice hours to Independent School District 728 for their four
High School teams. I will work with John Barth to try to schedule as many games as
possible on weekends to open up weekday ice for other customers to rent. We will also
explore the possibility of having the high school teams practice in the morning if
possible.
The Skating Academy ice hours will remain the same as this past season except for
programs that do not interfere with other ice rentals.
Becker/Big Lake High School will keep their 100 hours of ice. If Monticello builds their
rink, then they will be moving their program to Monticello. The 100 hours of open ice
time will then be distributed among the existing customers. Monticello has indicated that
they will know by the first part of April if they will be building.
Elk River Skate Club's request to increase their hours from 33 hours to 92 hours is a
substantial increase. The 33 hours that are already rented from the Arena will be kept
intact, but may need to be moved to different dates and times. The additional hours
requested on Sunday mornings are "doable"however; it will be very difficult to
accommodate all the other requests for additional ice unless a portion of these hours can
be rented later in the evening (non prime ice).
Since Rogers Youth Hockey Association will be our newest customer they will receive
the remaining hours. This should be in the neighborhood of 150—225 hours of ice time.
7.5 % of these hours shall be "non primetime hours". If Becker Big Lake would move
their program to Monticello next year, I would expect that most of these hours would be
available for Rogers Youth Hockey to rent.
As I have said in the beginning, this is a starting point to give the Arena customers an
idea where we are scheduling the ice.
•
•
