Elk River City Council Minutes
September 21, 1998

Page 8

7.1. Bauerly Brothers - Partners for Parks Presentation

Jerry Lange, representing Bauerly Brothers, gave a presentation to the Council
regarding Bauerly Brothers 30 year anniversary celebration. Mr. Lange indicated
that Bauerly Brothers is offering a Partners for Parks program in the amount of
$1,000. The City Council thanked Mr. Lange for his presentation.

8. Staff Updates

8.1. City's Insurance Policy Renewal

Assistant City Administrator Lori Johnson indicated that the city's worker's
compensation insurance policy has come up for renewal earlier than expected.
She indicated that the rates have decreased and recommended continuing
coverage with the Minnesota League of Cities and to continue the $5,000
deductible and the managed care program.

Councilmember Dietz questioned the number of major claims the city had and
questioned the possibility of increasing the deductible to $10,000. Lori Johnson
indicated that there were no major claims in 1998, however she was not prepared
to comment on how the $10,000 deductible would affect the city at this time. It
was the consensus of the Council to review this issue again on Monday,
September 28, 1998.

9. Adjournment

There being no further business, Mayor Duitsman adjourned the meeting at 8:00
p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Sandra Peine
City Clerk
