IL Description of the Proposed and Future Management Activities
A. Land Management and Protection: The purchase of this site affords an opportunity to
protect and connect accessible public land near major population centers that simply
doesn't occur very often. This 335-acre purchase would connect the 24-acre Bailey Point
Nature Preserve with the Oxbow Park already owned by Elk River. This purchase will
secure the needed access and provide the land necessary to create a true regional amenity.
The city has an excellent track record of land stewardship and in conjunction with the
many partners involved with the project, will continue to obtain the resources necessary
for its successful management. In addition to its ownership by Elk 'ver and the
protected status that provides, the 335-acre site will also be sub' to conservation
easement held by the Minnesota Land Trust that will ensure ite is maintained as an
accessible natural area.
B.
