6.2 Subcommittee Updates • <br /> • Education Subcommittee <br /> o The Education Subcommittee had no updates. <br /> • Energy Design Subcommittee <br /> o Mr. Sagstetter and Commissioner Chuba discussed the flier in the packet. <br /> • Demonstration Subcommittee <br /> o The subcommittee is meeting immediately after the ECC meeting. <br /> • Visionary Subcommittee <br /> o Chair Setala informed the ECC that the Visionary Subcommittee discussed the <br /> short and long term goals and set the vision and mission for the ECC. The <br /> vision is to make"The City of Elk River the most energy responsible city in <br /> Minnesota." The mission is "The evaluation,promotion and implementation of <br /> technologies and processes that provide energy value to the Elk River <br /> Community through collaborative efforts." He also went through some of the <br /> potential goals for the ECC. <br /> o Goals for the next 1 —3 years were discussed and included ideas such as: <br /> • Review of the micro loan program and energy efficiency portion—create <br /> bonus points for energy efficiency <br /> • Partner with city staff and other commissions to increase energy efficient <br /> technologies (ie.Lights and solar at YAC) <br /> • Demonstration at Hockey Day MN (ie. Solar power for concessions) <br /> • Amend ordinance to not be so specific for commission members <br /> • Hydro Power at the dam <br /> • Waste Steam Project with GRE <br /> • Fuels cells—possible demonstration storing hydrogen • <br /> • Storage for wind energy project <br /> • Work with schools on energy related curriculum <br /> • Promotion of activities and achievements with the media <br /> 7. Other <br /> Enemy Star Cities Building Program <br /> Staff asked if anyone was familiar with this program. Discussion took place about the City <br /> needing to publicize more of the energy initiatives being taken at the various facilities. <br /> 8. Schedule Next ECC Meeting and Identify Agenda Items <br /> The next meeting will be held April 17, 2013 at the Elk River City Hall in the Upper Town <br /> Conference Room at 8:30 a.m. Items for the agenda include: <br /> • Approval of the March 20,2013 Minutes <br /> • Subcommittee Updates <br /> • Presentation by Phillip Muessig,MPCA MN Greenstep Cities program <br /> • Presentation by Clay Wilfarht,Economic Development Assistant to discuss the <br /> city's microloan program <br /> 9.
