ECity l k �~ <br />Memorandum <br />•-.�- . <br />River <br />To: Parks and Recreation Commission <br />From: Annette Bonin <br />Date: September 3, 2013 <br />Subject: Activity Center Report <br />August Recap: <br />• Nite to Unite was attended by 80 seniors. Hot dogs and chips were served and <br />entertainment provided by Tony Garry. This was the largest attendance for this <br />annual event. Thanks to ERPD for stopping in and presenting door prizes. <br />• `2 ost Loot" author talk and book signing event was held at the center. Star News was <br />at this presentation and followed up with a very nice article and picture in the paper. <br />• The fast edition of the newly redesigned Senior Scene monthly newsletter was <br />distributed. Many, many compliments on the new look have been received by staff. <br />• August trips included the MN Landscape Arboretum, which was full with a waiting <br />list. The annual MN State Fair trip was cancelled due to the extremely hot weather. <br />Attendance 2013 <br />Average attendance for July 2013 was up from July 2012 by an average of 5 per day. <br />Upcoming September Events: <br />September is Senior Center Month and the 2013 theme is Senior Centers: Experts at Living Well. <br />The Activity Center has planned several programs and activities throughout the month to <br />empower older adults to become Experts at Living Well.
