OW There are some concerns to be noted if this project were to move forward: ■ The city parking lot at Oak Knoll is in need of improvements in a few years ■ There would still be a shortage of athletic fields in the system ■ Football has stated that it will be better to have two football fields at the same location (YAC) but they are willing to consider the lower cost option of Oak Knoll. ■ The overall athletic fields /park needs of the community should be assessed through a parks and recreation comprehensive planning process which is planned for 2014. We have received a cost breakdown to construct a new football field at YAC. The budget numbers for a new field are attached. The estimates are for an athletic field and do not include costs related to a new parking lot and related storm water requirements that were discussed last month. The largest line item cost in the estimated budget to construct a field at YAC is the earth work of $145,000. This one line item is the same as the estimated total for an Oak Knoll field. The numbers are estimated and it is expected that many of the budgetary numbers shown for the YAC field could possibly be reduced with donations and volunteer assistance. Financial Impact It is recommended that the Commission review the Parks Improvement Fund priorities before a final recommendation is made to City Council.
