Memo to the Planning Commission
Workshop Agenda
December 14,2004
Page 2
Transportation Priorities
As the Commission is aware, transportation is a focus of the City Council. The City
Engineer will be preparing a list of transportation projects for the City Council to prioritize
at a future work session. The Commission will have an opportunity to provide input to the
list; however, the Commission should continue to work through the priority list that has
been compiled to date and to build consensus amongst itself in order to support the
Council's transportation improvements.
Attached for your use is the priority list that has been compiled, as well as a blank city base
map. Feel free to "doodle"your ideas on the base map as we will have larger versions of
this map for"doodling" on at the meeting in order to visually review individual priorities.
We will use the larger version to determine if there is a pattern and to build consensus
regarding the identification of three to five transportation priorities. While you are
"doodling", think about what the City's transportation system would look like in 20-30 years,
building on the current system,if money and neighborhood opposition were not part of the
equation.
Comprehensive Plan Implementation
Now that the Comprehensive Plan has been adopted, there are a number of ordinance
changes that need to occur in order to implement the goals and policies of the Plan. Please
review the Planning Department work plan for the items to be considered as part of the
Comprehensive Plan implementation. They fall under the subheadings of Comprehensive
Plan and Natural Resource Inventory Implementation. The remainder of the work plan is
items that are not related to the Comprehensive Plan but that the Planning Commission may
see in the future.
In addition to the items listed, if there are any topics you would like to see discussed at a
future work session, please identify those so that we can schedule them throughout the year.
S:\PLANNING\Michele McPherson\MEMOS\Plan Comm Wkshp Agenda.doc
