Caring Hearts Equestrian Center
X 111,„t.:f' [ t L.L._ Cr-tt1-t
November 16, 2004
Chris Leeseberg, City Planner
City of Elk River
13065 Orono Parkway
Elk River, Mn. 55330
Dear Chris:
I wanted to get back to you on your request for information. You mentioned the variation on
the size of the post building we are looking to place on the property. Ultimately we are
looking at a quality building that is aesthetically pleasing and more importantly meets the
city guidelines and requirements. The building will contain the indoor riding facility,
approximately 25 10'x12' stalls, handicapped restroom facilities, a tack room and learning
center for the children. The riding facility is typically 40'-50' wide and 75'-90' long. That
being said, we will be flexible and work within the city guidelines for the building.
1.) Number of users: We currently have 8 children that are awaiting the start of our facility.
Ne expect to grow this number to approximately 25-30 children per week (each with a one
hour session).
2.) Number of horses: We currently have 10 horses with two additional horses that we are
looking at currently. This number will increase, based on the number of children up to
approximately 20-25 horses.
3.) Number of employees: Initially it will be a family operation with my wife and I the only
employees. When the operation is fully engaged we will have one full-time employee and an
additional part time employee. There will also be several volunteers supporting various
aspects of the program.
4.) How many people will be on-site: There will be a maximum of two therapeutic sessions
occurring at any given time. With employees, parents, and children this could mean up to
12-15 people at any given time on the premises.
5.) Flours of operation: This has not been completely established at the present time,
however, there will be no riding sessions starting after 7:00 PM, with the barn closing no
later than 8:30 PM.
6.) Days of operations: This also has not been completely established at the present time.
We will be offering sessions on the weekend to accommodate the varying schedules of
jarents, but will probably be closed on Monday/Tuesday.
14169 Cottonwood Street NW • Andover,Minnesota 55304
Telephone: 612-716-9166 •Facsimile: 763-862-1742
