Carcass means the body or part of a domestic animal or fowl that has died,been killed,or has <br /> been slaughtered for human or animal consumption and not used for that purpose. <br /> Subsection 2. Discarded animal parts means all or parts of animals,fish, or poultry that have been killed for <br /> human or animal consumption and not used for that purpose. <br /> Subsection 3. Poultry means turkeys, chickens, and other domesticated fowl. <br /> Subsection 4. Animal Unit means a unit of measurement. For the purpose of this Ordinance any animal not <br /> listed on the following Animal Unit Equivalent Chart of this Ordinance shall be defined as the average weight <br /> of the animal divided by 1,000 pounds. <br /> Subsection 5. Domesticated animal means cats, dogs, birds, ferrets, snakes, lizards, and amphibians, <br /> domesticated rodents such as hamsters and gerbils, and rabbits. <br /> ANIMAL UNIT EQUIVALENT <br /> Animal(s) Equivalent <br /> Calves (150—500 Ibs) 0.5 animal units <br /> Feeder Cattle (500— 1200 Ibs) 1.0 animal units <br /> Beef Cows 1.0 animal units <br /> Young Dairy Stock (500 — 1000 Ibs) 0.75 animal units <br /> Replacement Heifers 1.0 animal units <br /> Dairy Cows 1.4 animal units <br /> Nursery Pigs (up to 50 Ibs) 0.05 animal units <br /> Grower/Feeder Pigs (50 — 100 lbs) 0.4 animal units <br /> Finishing Hogs (100 lbs —market weight) 0.4 animal units <br /> Sows 0.4 animal units <br /> Boars 0.4 animal units <br /> Sheep 0.1 animal units <br /> Turkeys 0.018 animal units <br /> Laver Chickens 0.01 animal units <br /> Broiler Chickens 0.01 animal units <br /> Horses 1.0 animal units <br /> Ostriches 0.4 animal units <br /> Source: Minnesota Pollution Control Agency <br /> Subsection 6. All carcasses and discarded animal parts shall be properly disposed of by being taken to a <br /> rendering plant or a properly permitted and licensed MSW landfill unless exempted herein. Carcasses and <br /> discarded animal parts shall not be buried on-site except for domesticated animals or those property owners <br /> that qualifies under Subsections 7 and 8 of this Ordinance. Domesticated animals may be buried on-site in a <br /> shallow grave if it did not die of a disease. <br /> Subsection 7.
