It is the Commission's understanding that the Utilities Commission is willing to provide native deciduous plantings up to an amount not to exceed$1,000 at Royal Valley Park. As you are aware,the Commission is interested in contracting with an outside firm to provide maintenance of the prairie plantings in order to ensure their viable establishment during the first three years of growth. The proposal the Commission received from Prairie Restorations is attached. The total maintenance cost as proposed is$3,7525.00 plus tax. Commissioner Anderson has volunteered to provide volunteers to complete the spring burn identified for 2006, therefore,reducing the total cost to $3,050.00. The Park and Recreation Commission would like the Utilities Commission to consider splitting the cost of this work in order to ensure a successful prairie restoration. The net cost to the Utilities would therefore be $1,525.00. I respectfully request an opportunity to represent the Commission at your next Utilities Commission meeting to further discuss this issue. I understand that the Commission meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 4:00 p.m. I appreciate this opportunity to discuss this issue further with the Utilities Commission.
