Springsted Incorporated
380 Jackson Street, Suite 300
Saint Paul, MN 55101-2887
Tel: 651-223-3000
Fax: 651-223-3002
www.springsted.com
MEMORANDUM
T0: Elk River City Council
CC: Bob Thistle, Interim City Administrator
FROM: Sharon Klumpp
DATE: August 17, 2011
SUBJECT: Interview Schedule
The interview schedule is one of the items we will be discussing at the City Council's August 22 workshop. Because
there are several options for you to consider, this information is being provided to you before the workshop so you
can review your schedules and we can determine what will work best for everyone.
Springsted's August 9, 2011 search update identified interview dates of September 8 and 9. My schedule has
changed since that time requiring me to go out of town on a family matter on September 9. Other dates for your
consideration are:
• September 7-8
• September 13-15
• September 22-23
In reviewing these dates, please be aware that Forest Lake will be conducting city administrator interviews on
September 16 and 17; some of the candidates who will be presented to you have also submitted applications for the
Forest Lake position. Also, the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) is holding its annual
conference in Milwaukee on September 17- 21. Some candidates will be attending this conference as will I. For
these reasons, I encourage you to see if either of the first two sets of interview dates will work.
Generally, the interview process entails a tour of the city, usually conducted individually for each candidate.
Candidates should have an opportunity to meet with department heads and/or key staff. While these meetings are
not billed as interviews, feedback on the strengths and concerns regarding candidates and their fit for the City
Public Sectar Advisors
