KEEPING NATURE IN YOUR COMMUNITY <br />Using Ecosystem ApprOaches in Community Projects <br /> <br /> Choose from six workshop sitesl <br /> (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.'each day) <br /> <br />September 22-23, 1998 <br />Elk River area <br /> <br />1998 <br /> <br />September 25-26, 1998 <br />St. Paul area <br /> <br />November 17-18, 1998 <br />Fargo/Moorhead area <br /> <br />November 20-21, 1998 <br />Brainerd area <br /> <br /> March 5-6, 1999 <br />Location to be determined <br /> <br />March 9-10, 1999 <br />Rochester area <br /> <br />Sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources <br />in cooperation with Tree Trust and <br />with support from the Minnesota Legislature. <br /> <br />This workshop is for teams of local <br />officials, planners, natural resource <br />managers, technical advisors, and <br />interested citizens who are working <br />.~together to do a community-based <br /> project, such as: <br /> <br /> comprehensive natural resources <br /> Or open space plan, <br /> <br /> a Watershed management initiative, <br /> <br />· a natural area/riparian pr~)tection <br /> and/or restoration project, or <br /> <br />· a sustainable communities initiative. <br /> <br />As a participant, you will receive: <br /> <br />two full days of hands-on training from <br />local and national experts in using <br />a 4-step process to plan and <br />implement natural resource- <br />based projects, <br />a 3-ring binder of resource materials, <br />key information on how ecosystems <br />work, Minnesota's natural <br />communities, and how to use data <br />from the Natural Heritage - <br />Information System, and ~ <br />a great opportunity to share and <br />gain ideas with people doing <br />similar projects. <br /> <br /> <br />
