Call Meetin.q To Order <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Ell< River City Council <br />was called to order at 5:02 p.m. by Mayor Duitsman. <br /> <br />2. Consider 8/10/98 A.qenda <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER THOMPSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE 8/10/98 AGENDA. <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 3- <br />O. <br /> <br />3.1. Discuss Status of City Planner Selection Process <br /> <br />City Administrator Pat Klaers explained that a top candidate has withdrawn his <br />application for the city planner position. A second interview with another <br />candidate has been scheduled for Wednesday, August 12. Pat noted that <br />many metropolitan cities are in the process of completing their comprehensive <br />updates. He felt this may be contributing to the limited interest in the position <br />simply because city planners are too busy. Pat suggested that if a suitable <br />candidate is not found, it may be appropriate to wait until after the first of the <br />year and hire a consultant, such as Jim Brimeyer, for assistance in filling the <br />position. <br /> <br /> It was the consensus of the City Council to wait for a recommendation from the <br /> committee. <br /> <br /> The City Council recessed at this time (5:12 p.m.) <br /> <br />Councilmember Dietz arrived at this time (5:18 p.m.) <br /> <br />The City Council reconvened at 5:18 p.m. <br /> <br />3.2. Consider Ordinance Restrictinq Parkin.q on City Streets more than 24 hours <br /> <br />Pat Klaers indicated that staff concurs with the police department that the no <br />parking from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. should continue to be a requirement only in the <br /> <br /> <br />
