Mr. Bruce Powers, Administrator of District Standards provk.ed the following information concerning the districts methods for evaluating need and determining the potential for new expansions. His comments are as follows; Projected student po' )ulation is estimated annually based on two methods. 1 .) Census maili: ag based on utility information. 2.) Projected res dential development (one student per household for new projects). New construction is based on three issues prioritized as follows; 1.) Tax capacity (bonding not to exceed 20% of capacity). 2.) Politics ( usually done in a major election year). 3.) Need (want t ) be to at least 80% of full capacity upon occupancy of new construction). · For Trott Brook Fan ns they would estimate 630 students and phase the development over 5 years. Therefore they project 126 students per year over the next 5 years. Based on this projec: as well as other projects either under construction or pending approval, one new school would appem to be needed in the near future. The need, type or location of any new or expanded facility has yet to be fully determined. This decision is ultimately made by the School Board. · Census, student pop, flation projections and other data are all available from the School District upon request.
