SHERBURNE COUNTY
HISTORICAL SOCIETY
13122 First Street, Becket, MN 55308

612-261-4433 · 1-800-932-2066

June 21, 1998

Mayor Hank Duitsman
P.O. Box 490
Elk River, MN 5533 0

Dear Mayor Hank Duitsman:

As you know, the Sherburne County Historical Society is planning to build a new Heritage Center
in Becker. The Center will preserve our county's history and provide county residents with rich
educational opportunities. We have raised about $212,000 thus far. Our immediate goal is to
match a $100,000 grant offered by Sherburne County. Toward that end we have raised $60,000.

We are requesting that the City of Elk River support this project through a $3000 donation. As
you can see from the donations list attached, a number of other cities and townships are
supporting this project. We appreciate your consideration in this matter and invite you to call us if
you have any further questions.

Sincerely,

Rachel Leonard
President

Kurt Kragness
Executive Director

enc/Annual Report
