There were a total of three bidders. Each bidder and their total bid <br />is presented in the following table. <br /> <br />Allied Blacktop Company <br />Pearson Brothers, Inc. <br />Astech Corporation <br /> <br />$25,570.OO <br />$26,103.75 <br />$29,034.75 <br /> <br />This year, Phil Hals, Street Superintendent, is proposing a slightly different approach to <br />the seal coating program. These bids represent the contractors' cost to provide the oil <br />and placement and the placement of the aggregate material. Phil has indicated in the <br />bidding documents that he will provide an aggregate material and the Contractor only <br />has to place it.. This allows Phil to have the material tested, and a specific design done <br />by Mn/DOT to maximize the benefit of the seal coat process. <br /> <br />Allied Blacktop Company has successfully completed seal coating within the City in <br />previous years. Therefore, we would recommend award to Allied Blacktop Company in <br />the amount of $25,570.00 as the lowest responsible bidder. Attached for the City <br />Council's consideration is a resolution that accepts the bid and awards the Contract to <br />Allied Blacktop Company. <br /> <br />If you have any questions regarding this project, I will be in attendance at your August 3, <br />1998 City Council meeting. <br /> <br />Sincerely, <br /> <br />Howard R.
