be completed in the spring to resolve any water leaking problems that are occurring around the <br />windows. <br /> <br />The remodeling of City Hall and the Police Station continues to move forward on schedule. A <br />recent tour of the project indicated that progress is being made, that no major problems are <br />surfacing, and there have been no recent big surprises. The project is scheduled to be completed by <br />the end of January. City staff anticipates beginning to move into the new facility the week of <br />February 9. The currently used furniture in the Utilities building is scheduled to be moved after 5 <br />p.m. on Thursday, February 12 and this work should be completed by the end of the day on <br />Monday, February 16 0Monday, February 16 is the Presidents' Day Holiday and city offices are <br />closed.) Regarding the timing of this move, I ~vould like to the City Council to consider closing city <br />offices for normal business activities on Friday, February 13, 2004. We had to close city offices to <br />move into the Utilities building and we need to do the same thing on Friday, February 13, 2004. The <br />moving company needs four complete days in order to accomplish the move and we will be unable <br />to conduct normal city business during this time. The move date will be finalized next week and <br />Council action to close city offices will be requested at the January 20 Council meeting. <br /> <br />Additionally, and this is more of a coincidence than related to move, but I need the City Council to <br />consider canceling the Tuesday, February 17, 2004 City Council meeting as no space is available to <br />hold this meeting. The Lions Park Center Facility and the Small Theatre both have been previously <br />committed to other groups and are not available. The public hearings which are normally heard on <br />the third Monday of the month are being scheduled to be presented to the Council on Monday, <br />February 9, 2004. <br /> <br />Recommendations <br />It is recommended that the City Council cancel its regularly scheduled meeting on February 17, <br />20O4. <br /> <br />S:~Council~PatN2OO4~cityhallpublicsafcty.doc <br /> <br /> <br />
