City Council Minutes <br />December 22, 2003 <br /> <br />5.4. Consider Term Expiration and Appointments for EDA, HRA, and Library. Board <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />Mr. IClaers discussed the terms that were expiring on the EDA, HtCS, and Library Board. <br />He stated that the Library Board member did not wish to be reappointed. Mr. IClaers stated <br />that these positions are mayoral appointments. The Mayor recommended reappointing Pat <br />Dwyer to the EDA and Larry Toth to the HtLS. <br /> <br />MOVED BY COUNCILMEMBER TVEITE AND SECONDED BY <br />COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ TO MAKE THE FOLLOWING APPOINTMENTS: <br /> <br />1. PAT DWYER TO THE EDA WITH A TERM TO EXPIRE DECEMBER <br /> 31, 2009 <br /> <br />2. LARRY TOTH TO THE HRA WITH A TERM TO EXPIRE DECEMBER <br /> 31, 2008 <br /> <br />MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />Mr. Klaers stated that staff would like direction on ho~v to proceed with f'flling vacancies <br />that are set to expire in February. He stated that Council has follo~ved a fle.'dble procedure to <br />f'ill these vacancies. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dietz stated that if current commission members wish to reapply, then they <br />should be given preference. <br /> <br />Councilmember Tveite stated that commission members who wish to reapply should be <br />given an earlier deadline to apply. If they don't reapply then they lose their preferential status <br />and would be put in a pool with the rest of the candidates who fill out an application. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kuester stated that attendance should be considered when f-filing a <br />reappointment. The Council concurred. Additionally, it was the Council consensus that <br />intervie~vs with current commissioners were not necessary. <br /> <br />6. Other Business <br /> <br />Personnel Po/iy <br />Ms. Johnson stated that when minor changes in the personnel policy were approved at the <br />prior Council meeting, the New Year's Day holiday was inadvertently left out of the holiday <br />schedule for the liquor store employees. <br /> <br />MOVED BY COUNCILMEMBER MOTIN AND SECONDED BY <br />COUNCILMEMBER TVEITE TO ADD THE NEW YEAR'S DAY HOLIDAY TO <br />THE LIQUOR STORE HOLIDAY SCHEDULE. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />Yankton Street Feasibility Study <br />Mr. Kdaers questioned the Council if they ~vould like staff to present information to the <br />Yankton neighborhood prior to coming to the Council with the feasibility study. He stated <br />that the project will disrupt the neighborhood and be expensive, so the neighbors may not <br />support it. <br /> <br /> <br />
