Sports opportunities for <br /> girls, minorities and children with disabilities have improved but are still not equal. <br /> Rationale: <br /> All children deserve the opportunity to play regardless of race, creed, sex, economic status or ability. <br /> Coaches, parents and league administrators should recognize stereotyping and demand that prejudice <br /> of any type be prohibited. Every effort should be made to provide financial assistance to those unable to <br /> afford participation, including the cost of safe equipment. Adult youth sports leaders must teach <br /> acceptance, tolerance and respect for people of all abilities, sizes, shapes, colors and cultural and <br /> economic backgrounds. <br /> Implementation: <br /> 1. Leagues must adopt a non-discrimination policy that ensures participation for all children regardless <br /> of race, creed, sex, economic status or ability. <br /> 2. Leagues should make provisions whenever possible to allow all children to participate regardless of <br /> their financial ability to pay. <br /> 3. Leagues are encouraged to provide programs that allow boys and girls to participate together <br /> whenever possible. <br /> 4. Leagues must encourage equal play time for all participants. <br /> 5.
