Stats. § 412.221, subd. 17. <br />The fire chief shall be appointed by the council taking into consideration the recommendation of the <br />members of the fire department, All other officers shall be elected by the department. Firefighters shall be <br />appointed by the members of the department in accordance with qualifications and other requirements <br />set forth in the fire department bylaws and this article. <br />(Code 1982, § 206,02 <br />(a) Generally. The fire chief shall have control of all the firefighting apparatus and shall be solely <br />responsible for its care and condition. The fire chief shall make an annual report to the council by <br />June on the condition of the equipment and needs of the fire department.
