Action Items <br /> 7.1.A. Fresno Rink Removal <br /> Parks and Recreation Director,Michael Hecker presented staff recommendation to close the <br /> Fresno Park Outdoor Skating Rink. Due to either little or no use by the public and in an <br /> effort to preserving the newly resurfaced court, staff recommends no ice rink being installed. <br /> MOVED BY COMMISSIONER NIZIOLEK AND SECONDED BY <br /> COMMISSIONER KALLEMEYN TO ACCEPT STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br /> TO REMOVE OUTDOOR SKATING RINK AT FRESNO PARK. MOTION <br /> CARRIED 7-0. <br /> 7.1.B. Baldwin Park Playground Removal <br /> Parks and Recreation Director,Michael Hecker reported that the playground equipment at <br /> Baldwin Park does not meet the current safety standards and it would cost an estimated <br /> $3,000 to bring it up to current standards. Staff is recommending removal of play structure <br /> and leaving the swing set in the park <br /> Mr.Hecker also shared that the playground does not receive much use by area residents, <br /> because of its size and age. Barrington Park is within walking distance and offers two play <br /> structures for two different age groups along with lighting. <br /> Commissioner Niziolek stated that it would be nice to plant a few trees for shading the park <br /> in the future. <br /> MOVED BY COMMISSIONER NIZIOLEK AND SECONDED BY <br /> COMMISSIONER KARLSEN TO ACCEPT STAFF RECOMMENDATION TO <br /> RECOMMEND TO THE CITY COUNCIL TO THE REMOVAL OF BALDWIN <br /> PARK PLAYGROUND STRUCTURE AND REMOVE THE 2015 <br /> PLACEHOLDER REPLACEMENT IN THE PARK IMPROVEMENT PLAN <br /> ALONG WITH PLANNING TO INCLUDE PLANTING A COUPLE TREES. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br /> 7.2. Policy Issues <br /> 7.2.A. Youth Sports Philosophy <br /> Parks and Recreation Director,Michael Hecker presented the youth sports philosophy that <br /> was developed based on the feedback received from the community youth sports meeting <br /> held on November 29,2012. Staff recommends the Parks and Recreation Commission <br />
