Call Meeting To Order <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof,the special meeting of the Elk River Board of <br /> Adjustments was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Vice Chair Westberg. <br /> 2. Consider Agenda <br /> MOTION BY COMMISSIONER JOHNSON AND SECONDED BY <br /> COMMISSIONER ANDERSON TO APPROVED THE AGENDA FOR THE <br /> MARCH 20, 2012 BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS SPECIAL MEETING. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 6-0. <br /> • 3. Oath of Office—Mike Keller <br /> Mike Keller was sworn in as Planning Commissioner at this time. <br /> 4. Request by Elk River Lutheran Church for Variance to the City's Land Use Regulations, <br /> Section 30-2025 (2) —Stormwater Management for 728 Main Street Property, Case No.V <br /> 12-01,Public Hearing <br /> Jeremy Barnhart reviewed the staff report. He stated that approval of the variance would <br /> allow 43 percent of the site to be covered by impervious materials (concrete,roof,asphalt). <br /> Staff recommends approval of the variance with the condition that the new sidewalk be <br /> constructed with pervious pavers or an approved equal material. <br /> Vice Chair Westberg opened the public hearing. No comments were received and the <br /> public hearing was closed. <br /> Commissioner Anderson stated that he did not recall having a condition placed on a <br /> variance. Mr.Barnhart stated that the condition helps to ensure the intent for the pavers. <br /> Commissioner Anderson stated that he is not in favor of having a church in the downtown. <br /> Commissioner Bell stated that he supported the variance, since any business that would try <br /> to locate on the site would also need a variance. Commissioners Johnson and Konietzko <br /> stated they were also in favor of the variance. <br /> • MOVED BY COMMISSIONER BELL AND SECONDED BY <br /> COMMISSIONER JOHNSON TO APPROVE THE REQUEST BY ELK RIVER <br />
