tip REQUEST FOR ACTION <br /> River- <br /> TO ITEM NUMBER <br /> Mayor and City Council 4.7 <br /> AGENDA SECTION MEETING DATE PREPARED BY <br /> Consent January 22,2013 Ron Nierenhausen,Police Captain <br /> ITEM DESCRIPTION REVIEWED BY <br /> Police Department 2013 Fleet Purchases Cal Portner,City Administrator <br /> REVIEWED BY <br /> ACTION REQUESTED <br /> Approve by motion the purchase of the following 2013 police vehicles from the state contract per the <br /> 2013 Capital Improvement Plan: <br /> • Three—Chevrolet Caprice (police package squads) - $26,134.65 each <br /> • One—Chevrolet Tahoe (street appearance squad) -$25,370.95 <br /> • One—Ford Interceptor Utility (police package) - $28,542.00 <br /> With further authorization to set up and equip the purchased vehicles from the budgeted funds in the <br /> Equipment Replacement Fund. <br /> BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION <br /> The requested purchases are part of the approved 2013 Equipment Replacement Fund. The replacement <br /> plan has previously been discussed with Council. <br /> The three 2013 police package Chevrolet Caprices will be assigned to the patrol fleet for patrol duties. <br /> Two of the Caprices will be replacement squads for outgoing Crown Victoria's and one will be an <br /> addition to the fleet. <br /> The 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe (street appearance)will replace the outgoing 2006 Hummer H3 currently used <br /> by the Chief of Police. <br /> The 2013 Ford Interceptor Utility vehicle will replace the outgoing 2006 Chevrolet Colorado currently <br /> used by the Community Service Officers. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT <br /> Funds are budgeted in the 2013 Equipment Replacement Fund in the amount of$105,000 for the three <br /> Chevrolet Caprices and$34,000 each for the Chevrolet Tahoe and Ford Interceptor Utility. These funds <br /> cover the cost of vehicle purchase,old squad tear down,new squad set up,graphics (where applicable), <br /> and other expenses associated with squad replacement. <br /> ATTACHMENTS <br /> • 2013 Equipment Purchases <br /> [NATURE <br />
