The City Council adopted the following vision statement and strategic ,41.° <br /> goals: <br /> 0 <br /> Vision <br /> Abounding in natural beauty, Elk River is a vibrant, historic rivertown that promotes an active <br /> lifestyle in an innovative and involved community offering unlimited opportunities. <br /> Goals and Action Steps <br /> Innovation: Develop new programs and services to meet the needs of the <br /> community. <br /> A. Evaluate existing programs and services <br /> B. Enhance communication <br /> C. Explore and develop new programs and services <br /> Community Development: Enhance and Expand community involvement <br /> and public participation through a variety of innovative outlets <br /> A. Enhance and expand communication <br /> B. Enhance and expand and diversify public education and outreach <br /> C. Create the Elk River brand <br /> D. Increase volunteerism <br /> Beautification: Have attractive, welcoming streetscapes at City entrances <br /> and primary corridors. Enforce zoning ordinances. <br /> A. Improve, revitalize, and invest in streetscaping along primary corridors and <br /> entrances <br /> B. Provide consistent and expanded signage <br /> C. Create opportunities to beautify community <br /> Opportunities: Foster a pro-business atmosphere that provides incentives <br /> and other opportunities for new and existing business growth <br /> A. Position land for development <br /> B. Facilitate development and redevelopment <br /> C.
