Major Park Use - Lions Park Bandshell <br /> Recreation Manager, Steve Benoit presented a major park use for Lions Park <br /> Bandshell from George Ndege to hold a conceit on August 26,from 2-6pm. <br /> Elk River resident, George Ndege of 17950 Gary St., shared that the concert would <br /> have two youth bands to showcase the hip hop doesn't have to be negative. It will <br /> be oriented towards youth and family and should be a fun night. <br /> MOVED BY COMMISSIONER SAGAN AND SECONDED BY <br /> COMMISSIONER KALLEMEYN TO ACCEPT STAFF <br /> RECOMMENDATION TO APPROVE THE MAJOR PARK USE WITH <br /> THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES. GROUP WILL PAY$20 RENTAL <br /> FEE, COVER COSTS OF ANY ADDITIONAL NEEDS,AND ADHERE <br /> TO CITY NOISE ORDINANCES. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 8. Discussion Items <br /> 8.1. Security Cameras in the parks <br /> Planner/Parks Planner, Chris Leeseberg discussed the possibility of putting portable <br /> security cameras into the 2013 GP. Would this be worth supporting and if so,parks <br /> would need to be prioritized as to when the security cameras would be used. <br /> Discussion took place regarding the cost. <br /> Commissioner Anderson suggested that staff discuss and make a recommendation to <br /> Commission for recommendation to City Council. <br /> 9. Division Manager's Reports <br /> Recreation Manager, Steve Benoit presented the Activity Center report. <br /> Mr. Benoit also presented the Recreation report stating that programs had been affected by <br /> the hot weather and precautions were being taken when deciding to still hold activities at the <br /> scheduled time. Staff are also working on implementing the new Vermont Systems <br /> registration software. <br /> Mayor Dietz asked if there were program cancelations due to the high heat index. <br /> Mr. Benoit shared that no cancelations took place however there were program <br /> modifications. <br />
