The lowest in priority would be hiring an additional water operator. With a recently
vacated water operator position, management has advertised for a lead water operator to
replace the water operator. The hiring of an executive assistant would free up the current
water operators who allocate a significant amount of hours to administration work. And,
the hiring of a conservation and key accounts assistant would free up a significant amount
of water operator time. Because of these, the current need for an additional water
operator is minimal.
Management recommends the addition of the executive assistant and the conservation
and key account assistant in 2013. In August, the Commission question whether or not
these two jobs could be combined. After further analysis of the needs, these two
positions have vastly different skill set requirements. Hiring one to cover both would
compromise the ability to effectively accomplish the required duties. In addition, the
work load is sufficient to justify both today. Included in the budget is the mid-year hiring
of the two recommended position. Management would strongly support hiring one or
both at the beginning of 2013.
ATTACHMENTS:
• Proposed 2013 Electric Expense Budget
• Proposed 2013 Water Expense Budget
s F OgN E A E I 111
Page3of3 NATUR
Reliable Public
Power Provider POWERED To S EeVE
