Over 200 people <br /> read the newsletter, and four sought more information about the Nature's Edge Business Center <br /> lots after reading the article. Staff follows up on this research by reaching out with more <br /> information. <br /> MNCAR <br /> The Minnesota Association of Commercial Realtors (MNCAR) Annual Conference and Expo is <br /> November 8,2012. Economic Development and Municipal Utility staff will exhibit and highlight <br /> Elk River's competitive advantages in data center recruitment to the over 500 anticipated realtors <br /> and developers attending. Last year over 100 realtors, developers and site selectors visited the <br /> booth and talked to staff about developing in Elk River. <br /> Economic Development staff attended a training session on seminar marketing in August and <br /> will utilize tactics learned in the conference. For instance, a mailer will be sent out inviting <br /> attendees to the booth,where they will have a chance to win drawings and learn about Elk River. <br /> Following the Expo, staff will follow up with everyone who attended with more information and <br /> thank them for stopping by the booth. The booth will highlight Elk River's experience in dealing <br /> with data centers, quality utilities, and ability to act quickly on data center projects. <br /> Staff will build anticipation for the event on social media sites and encourage people to attend. <br /> Staff will also call and email targeted individuals and personally invite them to stop by the booth. <br /> EDA Commissioners are invited to attend with staff to help promote Elk River. Interested <br /> Commissioners can contact staff to RSVP. <br /> Manufacturers' Connection <br /> Becker,Big Lake,Princeton, and Elk River collaborated to organize a Manufacturer's Connection <br /> event on September 18. Approximately 20 regional manufacturers and educators were in <br /> attendance including officials from Elk River High School, Salk Middle School and J&J Machine. <br /> Participants expressed a need for a closer relationship between schools, students, and <br /> manufacturers in order to maintain a sufficient workforce. The Star News wrote an article about <br /> the meeting that ran on the front page of the September 22nd issue. <br /> As a result of the event, Elk River High School has expressed interested in having manufacturers <br /> and city staff participate in developing industrial tech curriculum in the fall of 2012. Several <br /> manufacturers expressed an interest in opening up for students to tour their facilities, and a <br /> couple teachers stated that they would be interested in having their students tour those <br /> manufacturing facilities.
