Elk REQUEST FOR ACTION <br /> River <br /> TO ITEM NUMBER <br /> Mayor and City Council 4.3. <br /> AGENDA SECTION MEETING DATE PREPARED BY <br /> Consent October 8, 2012 Jessica Miller, Executive <br /> Secretary/Deputy City Clerk <br /> ITEM DESCRIPTION REVIEWED BY <br /> Special Event Permit-The Early Childhood Family Education Tina Allard, City Clerk <br /> for 2K and 5 K Run/Walk REVIEWED BY <br /> ACTION REQUESTED <br /> Council motion approving a special event permit to Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) for a 2K <br /> and a 5K run/walk scheduled for Saturday, October 13, 2012,with the following conditions: <br /> 1. Applicant shall be responsible for garbage clean-up immediately following the event. <br /> 2. Walkers/runners are to utilize sidewalks, trail systems, or road shoulders throughout the entire <br /> route. No road closures will be permitted. It is each runner's responsibility to ensure the <br /> streets/intersections are safe prior to crossing. <br /> 3. ECFE shall designate race marshals to monitor the race route and participants. <br /> BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION <br /> ECFE is requesting to host a 2K and a 5K run/walk on Saturday, October 13, 2012. Below is a synopsis <br /> of the request: <br /> • The event begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 11:00 a.m. <br /> • The event is open to the public. ECFE is expecting approximately 150 participants. <br /> • Following the event there will be a gathering of participants at Handke for snacks, beverages, <br /> and an inflatable moon bounce in their nature playground. <br /> ATTACHMENTS <br /> ■ Route maps provided by applicant <br /> Action Motion by Second by Vote <br /> Follow Up <br /> N:\Public Bodies\City Council\Council RCA\Licensing\Special Event\ECFE Run.doc <br />
