<br /> • Overall, the number of covered jobs in Elk River increased by 22%, or 1,971 jobs since 2000.
<br /> Covered jobs have remained relatively stable with few small declines mid-decade and
<br /> during the economic recession. The City of Elk River is currently at its highest point since
<br /> 2000 with 11,216 jobs in 2011.
<br /> • Nearly all of the growth has occurred in the Education and Health Services sector (75%).
<br /> Without the substantial growth in this industry, the City would still have experienced a gain
<br /> in covered employment, however at a much lesser rate over the decade.
<br /> • The Education and Health Services sector has overtaken the Trade, Transportation, and
<br /> Utilities sectors for the largest portion (28%, or 3,119 jobs) of the jobs in Elk River as of
<br /> 2011. The Trade, Transportation, and Utilities sector accounted for 24% (2,725 jobs) of
<br /> covered jobs in the City.
<br /> • The Education and Health Services industry has more than doubled in jobs over the period,
<br /> adding 1,752 jobs (128%). There were six other sectors that experienced growth which
<br /> include by numerical growth: Public Administration which added 284 jobs (50%), Trade,
<br /> Transportation, and Utilities which added 255 jobs (10%), Other Services which added 136
