In 2010,the City purchased the parking lot behind the Sunshine <br /> Depot block. This purchase retained approximately 70 parking <br /> spaces in public ownership. <br /> In 2012, the Elk River Lutheran Church began redevelopment of <br /> the former 1st National Bank building into their new worship <br /> center. Included in the improvements was an easement to <br /> provide a trail along the river, a landscaped refuge center near <br /> Main Street, and a community room overlooking the river. <br /> In 2012, the HRA, due to poor building conditions and rising <br /> maintenance costs,removed the Main Street Mall at 720 and 716 <br /> Main Street.
