One option many don't think
about is to change out old lights to new, more efficient
lighting, which helps lower monthly energy costs.
E &O Tool and Plastics
recently made some drastic
changes in the lighting
system they use for the
production and office
facilities in Elk River,
Minnesota.
Over 350 lights in the building were replaced. The
change to more efficient fluorescent lights and the
addition of motion sensors will save E &O over 340,000
kWh per year and about $25,000 in energy and demand
costs. "Production will increase from the increased light
levels. When people are happy, they work harder and
better. The new lights have made people happier
because it appears like there is daylight in the work
areas," said Joel Schafbuch, Director of Engineering
and Operations.
In addition to the $25,000 of% ,
annual savings, E &O
r
received a rebate for just
under $10,000 from ERMU'
for upgrading all of the
lights. This lighting retro -fit
project has a simple payback of under two years. The
rebate had a large influence on the lighting project being
done this year. "The project would have been
postponed if the rebates were not available," said
Schafbuch.
Take advantage of lighting and other energy efficient
rebates offered by ERMU to increase your cash flow
and profitability today.
•
•
J
