Purpose
Statement

The Youth Initiatives
:ommittee has developed and
adopted the following Purpose
Statement:

June, 1998 Volume 9
Youth
Initiatives

To unite various segments of the
community to develop and
promote positive resources and
opportunities with and for youth.

What's Happening?

Each project we are working on continues to progress. The biggest project right now is
the opening of Youthbound at the old liquor store. Construction has begun and we hope
to open mid to late June. We are looking to form a youth board to help plan and govern
the facility. Anyone interested should contact Michele Bergh at Community Recreation.

We are ready to open a skatepark; however, we are still in need of community
involvement in this project. We are also looking at the possibility of a BMX park and we
believe this will also become a reality.

With these and all other projects the Youth Initiatives Committee works on, community
involvement is the key to their success. Anyone interested in becoming involved should
contact Community Recreation at the number listed below.

Contacts .

General Informa_~t~ori
Community Recreation 241-3523
Community Education 241-3520
.
Other Community Groups

Elk River Skateboarders, Inc.

Michele Bergh 441-8770
BMX Biking
Margo Foster 241-0292

lWondering what's happening for youth?
