STAFF REPORTS / INFORMATIONAL UPDATES: <br />** Program / service of the month: See the attached reporL <br /> <br /> D.1) Youth Initiatives: Skatepark expected to open by mid June. Recent changes from the <br />LMCIT now make it easier to offer as a part of your overall park and recreation system. ! will also <br />verbally update you on the youth recreation center( in Elk River) and BMX development progress. <br /> <br /> D.2) Summer 1998 Program' Registration is going well. Several programs filled very quickly. <br />When able, we add opportunities to serve the demand. Some programs cannot be added due to <br />facility limitations, etc. <br /> <br /> D.3) Weeks ahead: The following items are a quick review of upcoming matters that our office <br />will be working on: <br />- Continued program promotions, registration <br />- Staff orientation <br />- Continued coordinating for field preparation and maintenance needs <br />- Continued work with Youth Initiatives and other local efforts to serve youth <br />- Development & opening of the Skatepark <br />- Support to coordinating soccer field / irrigation improvements to fields at Meadowvale <br />- Planning a "grand opening" for the new Youth Athletic Complex in Elk River <br />- Potential opening of "Youthbound" (ER youth center) <br />- Intern begins May 26th. <br /> <br /> E.) Community, Report~: All representatives are encouraged to share items of interest, current <br />events, etc. or concerns that the Community Recreation Board should be aware of. <br /> <br /> El) Review on the May 7th field development meeting: It was a good start! We had <br />representation from Otsego, Hassan, Rogers, and Elk River in attendance. The School District was <br />not able to be there. Their role is key and we hope to have them involved as this process continues. <br />The CR Board should determine our next step at this meeting. <br /> <br /> E2) Report on the potential office changes: As of May 5th it appears that the Day Treatment <br />program will be located at the CE Center. As directed, I sent a memo to Dr. Flannery advocating <br />careful consideration of our program and needs as they relate to this potential change. CE Center <br />staff have begun planning for the necessary changes. I will plan to review our progress and change <br />opportunities to date at the meeting. <br /> <br /> F.3 Discus~ non-resident fee i,ssue$ and possible solutions: With the increase in non-resident fees, <br />we are observing increased issues with participants attempting to beat our system.
